Inspired by California (the State; state of mind) Julie Buckner Design helps clients create comfortable, welcoming, beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces that  support, embrace, and enrich their distinctive lifestyles.

With deep roots in L.A. but heart in the Bay, Julie recently undertook a mid-life move from Southern to Northern California. Ever entrepreneurial - and after more than 20 years in political/public affairs consulting and 10 as the founder/owner of a community yoga center - Julie has evolved her lifelong creative quest to capture the essential beauty of all things by launching her own design firm, JBD.

Julie’s design aesthetic is quintessentially Californian, informed by the abundance, beauty, diversity and, often, clashes of architecture, geography, and culture. What began as just-for-fun, became a side gig, and now her full-time profession, Julie’s helped people with their homes and gardens - transforming tudors, modernizing mid-centuries, shaping spanishes, curating craftsmans, and restoring ranches.  She brings her intuitive ability and unique experience as a leader, creative, and organizer to manage projects to completion.

She is appreciated by her clients for her maturity, understanding, and depth as a construction coach and interior designer.

Julie has been a small business owner for 25+ years. She’s been a practitioner of yoga, wellness, and mindfulness for more than 35 years. She is a yoga teacher, mother of two young men, and member of the Board of Directors, Sonoma Ashram Foundation, with centers in Sonoma County and Varanasi, India.  She's visited (almost) every California county.

From big new-build projects to multi-room remodels to quick ‘n easy styling updates, Julie Buckner Design works with clients to cultivate a unique style for their home, land, and life.
