The period-conscious project, with an intention of preserving the original MCM character of the home, included: restoring the original mahogany wood paneled walls in the bedrooms; retaining the floor plan, yet completely remodeling the kitchen with new appliances, cabinets, countertops, hardware, plumbing and lighting fixtures in keeping with MCM aesthetic;a structural fix and hand-applied lime wash finish for the OG brick fireplace; two sets of large, custom bi-folding La Cantina doors, connecting the deck, great room, and courtyard for full indoor/outdoor flow; a third full bath was created from a linen closet; wall reconfiguration to designate private space for a primary en suite bedroom/bathroom/closet area. Interior and exterior paint colors; custom ipe privacy gate; new deck and railing; water-wise landscaping paying homage to the front yard’s giant Redwood tree.
Not a single detail - from hardwood flooring to the beams - was overlooked.
All furnishings, art, and decor - much of it vintage - are a nod to mid century modern design.
